LEICESTERSHIRE POLICE APPEAL – CRIME REF: 24/216214 – 12YR OLD INJURED IN COLLISION WITH STOLEN MOTORCYCLE

Leicestershire Police are appealing for information following a collision involving a 12 year old child and a stolen motorcycle.

The child was riding his BMX bicycle on Maidenwell Avenue, Leicester at 15:15 (3.15pm) on Saturday 13th April 2024 when the collision occurred. An Ambulance attended the scene, and the victim was taken to hospital. He sustained head injuries and grazing to his shoulder and remains in hospital in a stable condition.

The rider of the stolen motorcycle was accompanied with another motorcycle at the time. Both fled the scene before Police arrived, and we seen heading in the direction of Hamilton Lane. The Motorcycle involved in the collision was a Silver Honda CBF125 stolen from Highcross Street, Leicester shortly before the collision.

Fire Services attended a motorcycle fire in Malsbury Avenue, at 15:22 (3.22pm) where they discovered the bike that was believed to be involved in the collision had been set alight.

This could very easily have been a fatality, and we believe the riders thought they may well have killed the child hence fleeing the scene and attempting to destroy any evidence. Do you know who was responsible? Do you have any CCTV, Dashcam OR Doorbell images? This could be in Highcross Street, the scene of the theft, Maidenwell Av, Hamilton Lane, Marlsbury Avenue or any roads linking this route?

Have you heard anything? Has your son or neighbour arrived home with injuries? Smelling of Petrol? The community know who these people are, and for the safety of your own families, as well as for the riders, you need to let us know. This time, no-one was killed. They may not be so lucky next time, and protecting them is risking the whole community.

Any information is totally anonymous! We do not even pass your name to Police, you will not be asked to attend court and nobody will know you have been in contact with us. We want to prevent this from happening again, and prevent the riders from going to prison needlessly. Hit the Contact Us button above, or call 101 quoting Crime Ref number above

Please SHARE far and wide, let’s get these individuals stopped before they kill someone. It’s only a matter of time.

Thanks In Advance
