This year has been particular challenging, and with restrictions with funding being mostly privately funded, we have had to make every penny count. We have still managed to make a difference, and have been very busy out in the community with education, recovery and have welcomed our Tenth Police Force this year.
Of course, this would not be possible without our Supporters, Volunteers and Donors whom have allowed us to do what we have this year. Getting to shows to share tips on being safe, and keeping your bikes safe. We have recently been involved with setting up a new Tracker Company, that will be announced shortly. The tracking will be handled in-house with a covert tracker, and the bike will be recovered by our recovery teams of contractors that we will expand. Most importantly, we are making subscriptions for these affordable – and for members, we plan this to be included in your membership rewards. Members donate a monthly amount, to help fund the cause in preventing bike theft and helping other bikers, and as a thank-you, they receive discounts at motorcycle outlets, for security products such as Abus Security, Asgard Steel Security Sheds and many more.
Supporters as so Important. Your support means that we can continue to make an impact and reduce thefts, as well as reach more people. Please ensure you continue to SHARE far and Wide, to expand the audience and make owners more aware, and allow the victims to get support and advice via our case handlers.
Various Companies have helped support us through offering you discounts on products as they wanted to make a difference in the bike theft issues, and keep you machines safer. So a huge thankyou to Abus, J&S Accessories, Asgard Steel Security Sheds and Motorcycle Products to name a few. Also, riding schools that have embraced the concept of Community Involvement and had our Locking Schools on scene as an enhancement to their services. It makes a huge difference for these new riders to be taught the different means of protecting their machines, and the importance of doing so.
Also a huge thank you to Donors, those that have donated Cash via our stands or QR code or by donating extra Bike Clothing and Equipment. This enables us to not only help the motorcycle community with gear that they may not have otherwise been able to obtain, but the donations received for that equipment go on to allow us to assist owners in recovering their machines, repairing at cost, and preventing the thefts in the first place. We will be sending you a free membership to the forums also that we will launch after Christmas.
Our Volunteers have been hard at it all year doing vast amount from I.T, Attending Shows and Events, Conducting Security Assessments, Meeting with Police, attending community meetings, conducting talks at Schools and so much more! Some even walk the streets handing out flyers and explaining to bikers that they should lock their bikes.
I.T. have had a difficult last few months dealing with an Attempted Russia Cyber Attack, due to the defenses working well, the hackers did not get any data they thought and gained nothing but a worthless ‘honey pot’ This has meant that many doors had to be closed – that means forms had to be ceased and changed, with different security models employed. Our Cyber Security have traced the attacks, and aware of an address in Russia that is being used for these attacks. As you can imagine, this level of experience in invaluable! But scumbags will attack even a charity!
Over this period – do ensure that you bikes are LOCKED, it is often a busy time for thefts with festivities meaning some are sleeping deeper. Make sure garages are kept secure and bikes locked within them. We have seen a growing number of bikes with little or no security. If you are unsure about security, come and have a chat with us, we can talk through some aspects that can assist.
Now, go and pour yourself a beverage, stuff your faces and watch a few movies. More importantly – enjoy yourselves! Don’t forget there is a ride-out on 27th in Coventry to the Fat Bobs at Blue Lias who have opened this year as a automotive themed venue. If you are in the area, and want to burn off some calories – pop along and have a look. We aim to be there too!
Merry Christmas!
